Feeding Instructions

  • Chow for Now is an all natural frozen raw meat diet. It includes ground bone and bone marrow which is an essential part of a nutritionally balanced diet and a great source of calcium and other nutrients. Fresh bones are rubbery and supple which are easy for puppies to digest. Never give cooked bones to your dog as cooking causes the bones to become dry and brittle.

  • Bones can be lethal if cooked

  • Keep food frozen or refrigerated until ready to feed

  • This food is intended to be fed raw, cooking diminishes or eliminates important nutrients. Please do not cook this food.
  • The food blocks can be fed frozen (preferred - as it helps keep your puppy’s and dog’s teeth and gums in excellent condition), semi-frozen or thawed.

Suggested Feeding Guidelines - Adult Dogs

The suggested feeding scale below is just a starting point. Every dog's nutritional requirements differ, even dogs from the same breed who are the same size may require different amounts of food, due to a number of variables including age and activity level. Start with the recommended amount of food and adjust according to the modifiers listed below.

If your dog is not eating all of the food offered cut back the portions. If your dog eats his daily recommended feeding, still looks around for more, and is not maintaining his proper weight, increase the size of his portions.

Feeding Puppies

For Puppies, Chow for Now offers a special, double ground, 2 lb block.
Puppy Packs contain 4 Puppy Blocks

  • For puppies offer food three times daily. Leave the food available to the puppy for 20 minutes. If the puppy has not eaten the food or all of the food in that time remove and store the remainder for the next meal.
  • If the puppy regularly leaves some of the food in the dish try feeding smaller meals.
  • If your puppy won’t eat the frozen food, thaw or partially thaw the food in your refrigerator. Try feeding the frozen food again in a couple of weeks. Most dogs prefer the food frozen.

Suggested Puppy Feeding Guide

As there can be a significant range in size of puppies even in the same breed this is only a general guideline.

If your puppy is not eating all of the food offered, cut back the portions slightly. If your puppy eats his daily recommended feedings, still looks around for more and is not looking plump, increase the size of his portions.

At times your puppy will eat more than at other times. During a growth spurt you will see a significant increase in the amount of food your puppy will consume.

Eating grapes, raisins and even the common onion can cause severe gastro-intestinal problems in dogs and can even be fatal. So don't share these with your four-footed friends.
